Double Sink Vanity Units, Handmade to Your Design

There are few household disputes more ancient than two people, one sink, and a finite amount of time before work. A double sink vanity unit settles it permanently — two basins, generous storage and a luxury painted furniture look, all made to order in Yorkshire.

Compare double sink vanity sizes and basin styles, then browse the collection that suits your bathroom: shop double undermount vanity units or shop double countertop vanity units.

At Belwood & Roe, we’re a small team of joiners and designers in Yorkshire. We don’t hold stock or warehouse flat-packs — every double vanity is built to order, hand-painted in our own spray booth and inspected before it’s wrapped and sent across the UK. You choose your size (1100–2000mm), colour, worktop, basins, taps and handles. Current starting prices for the unit itself are shown on each product page, with worktops, basins, taps and handles chosen and priced separately.

Each unit is made in our Ossett workshop by a small team focused on quality, finish and attention to detail. Components are carefully machined for accuracy, assembled by hand, painted to order and checked before leaving the workshop, creating a luxury bathroom centrepiece that feels substantial, timeless and personal to your home.

Is a Double Sink Vanity Unit Right for Your Bathroom?

Worth a moment’s honesty before you fall for one. A double vanity is glorious in the right room and frustrating in the wrong one. If two people share the bathroom at the same times of day, a double removes the morning bottleneck and adds storage, while still leaving room for cupboards, drawers and a practical worktop area.

A double sink vanity unit is ideal if you want:

  • Two basins for a shared bathroom or ensuite
  • A luxury fitted-furniture look that anchors the room
  • Better storage for toiletries, towels and bathroom essentials
  • A size that suits your bathroom, from 1100mm up to 2000mm
  • A made-to-order unit rather than a standard off-the-shelf cabinet

Think twice if your space is tight. Below around 1100mm two basins become two very cramped basins, and you’ll get more daily joy from a well-designed single with a generous bowl and more worktop. (We make those too.)

How to Measure (the Bit That Prevents Heartbreak)

Most returns and regrets come from measuring once. Measure thrice, ideally with a cup of tea.

  1. Wall width — measure at floor level, mid-height and at worktop height. Old walls are rarely square, and the smallest of the three is your working maximum.
  2. Allow for the worktop — the width you choose is the cabinet, and the worktop overhangs it by 10mm each side. Fitting wall to wall in a recess? Email [email protected] before you order and we’ll make the top to fit.
  3. Basin spacing — we size the basins to suit the unit, giving the right spacing between them and the correct overall proportions.
  4. Depth — our units are a standard 500mm deep. Check that doesn’t foul a door swing, radiator or towel rail; we can design shallower units on request.
  5. Plumbing position — note where your waste and supplies come through. On undermount units, drawers directly beneath the basins are fixed false fronts to allow for the basins and plumbing; central drawers remain usable. Check your chosen model’s layout before positioning waste and supplies.

Why Choose a Double Sink Vanity Unit?

A double sink vanity unit gives you generous storage, two usable basin positions and a strong visual centrepiece without overpowering the room. Whether you are planning a master ensuite, family bathroom or larger renovation project, it gives you two separate washing spaces while keeping the furniture practical, elegant and easy to live with.

Custom Double Vanity Units Made to Order

Every Belwood & Roe vanity unit is made to order, so your double sink vanity can be tailored to suit your bathroom layout and personal style. You can choose the painted finish, worktop, basin style, tap position and handle choice, allowing the unit to feel like part of the room rather than a compromise.

Top-Mount or Undermount Basins?

This is the decision that most changes the look and the cleaning, so it’s worth getting right. Every double vanity can be built for either.

The Plumbing Reality (Because Nobody Else Tells You)

Two basins means two wastes — but they can usually join into a single drainage run, which keeps the install tidy. You’ll want separate hot and cold supplies for each tap, so if your current setup feeds one basin, factor a plumber into your plans. None of this is difficult; it just helps to know before the tiler arrives, not after.

Built for Bathroom Life: Why Moisture-Resistant MDF

Bathrooms are demanding places — warm, humid, and forever cycling between steamy and dry. That’s exactly the environment our units are designed for. We build our fronts from moisture-resistant MDF: it’s dimensionally stable, so it stays true through all that heat and humidity, and it takes paint beautifully for a flawlessly smooth finish.

Inside, oak-effect interiors keep things warm and hard-wearing, and every unit is finished in water-based paint with a hard-wearing enamel in our own spray booth. The result is a vanity engineered to stay looking like the day it arrived — which, in a room that sees this much daily use, is rather the point.

Inspired by Our Best-Selling Otley Double Vanity Unit

Our larger painted double vanity units are among our most popular designs, with the Otley range being a customer favourite. The Otley is popular because it gives customers the look of traditional painted furniture with the practicality needed for a busy bathroom. Its shaker-style doors, painted finish and generous storage make it a natural choice for a double vanity unit that feels substantial without looking overly ornate.

For customers looking for a bespoke double vanity, the Otley offers a timeless starting point that can then be personalised with your chosen size, colour, worktop, basins, taps and handles.

What Size Double Vanity Unit Do I Need?

As a guide, allow enough space either side of the unit for comfortable movement, door openings, shower screens and nearby sanitaryware. Under 1200mm a double tends to feel tight; 1500mm and above gives proper worktop space between the basins. The table below helps you choose.

WidthBest For
1100–1200mmCompact double vanity layouts and smaller ensuites
1300–1400mmMedium-sized bathrooms needing two basins

Bespoke Double Vanity Units vs Standard Bathroom Cabinets

Many standard double vanity units come in fixed sizes, limited colours and basic configurations. A bespoke painted vanity gives you more control over the final look, storage layout and overall specification.

With a bespoke Belwood & Roe vanity unit, you can choose:

  • The painted colour
  • The worktop style
  • Basin type and position
  • Tap position
  • Handle style and finish
  • Practical storage layout
  • A size and specification that suits your bathroom

What Our Customers Say

Our vanity unit from Belwood and Roe is absolutely stunning — the Otley in custom colour Skimming Stone. The unit is beautifully made, inside and out… Daniel sent colour swatches, gave ideas, and even held our unit a little longer when our bathroom refurb was delayed. We are over the moon.

Amanda B.

The craftsmanship is exceptional — the joinery is precise, the finish is flawless… Our builders even commented it was one of the best they had installed. It feels like a luxury hotel upgrade.

Alex G. (Kirkby vanity)

The two units we purchased were exceptional value. We deliberated about spending so much when cheaper options were available. So pleased we made the correct choice.

Double Sink Vanity Unit FAQs

What size do I need for a double sink vanity unit?

Most comfortable doubles start around 1200mm, with 1500mm and above giving you proper worktop space between the basins. We offer pre-designed sizes from 1100mm to 2000mm in 100mm increments, plus fully bespoke sizing.

Do double sink vanities need special plumbing?

You’ll want separate hot and cold supplies for each tap, but the two wastes can usually join into a single drainage run. Worth a quick chat with your plumber before fitting. If you’re opting for a unit with a shelf at the bottom the plumbing will need to be hidden in the wall, but we also do units for plumbing to run underneath.

Are double vanity units worth it?

If two people share the bathroom at the same times of day, yes — they remove the daily bottleneck and add storage. In smaller bathrooms a well-designed single with more drawers can be the smarter choice.

Are your vanity units solid wood?

No — and there’s good reason. We build fronts from moisture-resistant MDF with oak-effect interiors, hand-finished in water-based enamel. It’s more stable than solid timber in a humid bathroom.

Undermount or countertop basins for a double vanity?

Undermount sits below the worktop for a seamless, wipe-clean finish. Countertop (top-mount) basins make more of a statement and suit slightly more modern schemes. Both are available on our made-to-order units.

What worktops can I choose?

Solid surface — a hard-wearing stone-and-acrylic mix that gives a seamless, non-porous, stone-like finish that’s perfectly at home around basins and taps. They come in four finishes: plain white, Colosseum, Taj Mahal and San Marco. You’ll see them when you go through the configuration options, but you can see larger pictures here.

Can I choose the colour, worktop and basins?

Yes. Our units are painted to order in any colour — we provide the most popular colours as a standard option, or just give us a name or a RAL number — plus your choice of worktop, basin style, taps and handles.

What is the difference between a double vanity unit and a twin basin vanity unit?

They usually describe the same product: a larger vanity unit designed for two basins. Some customers call it a double vanity unit, others a twin basin vanity, double basin vanity or large bathroom vanity cabinet.

How long does a bespoke double vanity take to make?

Usually delivered in 4–5 weeks from order, as each unit is handmade to your design. If your project is delayed, we can store your finished unit until you’re ready.

Where do you deliver?

Across the UK — from Northern Ireland, Guernsey and the Isle of Man to the Scottish Highlands. The Republic of Ireland is the one area we can’t currently ship to.
